This started in a kitchen in a Phoenix apartment, and somehow everyone became an expert on lease law.

What happened was someone reported the apartment issue without telling the group. I asked one direct question and the answer made the whole thing worse. I was dealing with the roommate who shares almost everything after a package was opened. Packing paper covered the sofa. I keep trying to sound fair and then remembering the exact thing they said.

Establishing privacy without accusing them of theft. I did not say that part out loud. Our names look similar on deliveries. We now collect packages separately. Now the lease feels like a scoreboard, and the utility shutoff warning arrived. I checked the torn label for fingerprints as a joke.

I keep coming back to the same uncomfortable point. Humor is how I make accusations deniable.
