AITA for refusing to cover my friend's partner's meal?

People around me are split, so I need a judgment.

This happened during a restaurant bill split. I was with my oldest friend and his partner. The issue was that my friend expected me to cover part of his partner's meal even though I had not agreed to that.

I said fine, but it obviously did not sound fine. I was already irritated, so I know I did not sound great.

They thought I had agreed to cover more than my share. My friend has barely replied since dinner. Now everyone remembers my reaction more than the bill.

I hate looking cheap, but I also hate being volunteered to pay. So AITA for doing what I did?
