Should I delay a tutorial until I have fixed its automatic captions?

Technology category photographTechnology

My friend watched my watercolour-postcard tutorial without sound and asked why I told her to use red paper. I had said “wet paper.” The automatic captions got it wrong twice.

The clip is four minutes long. I promised the group I would share it tonight, and the painting demonstration itself is clear. I nearly replied that she could switch the sound on, then remembered she was watching beside her sleeping baby.

I can correct the captions, but it will mean spending my evening checking the whole clip instead of just exporting it.

Would you hold it until that check is finished or share the draft and fix it later? I wanted this to be a small favour. Now I have noticed a small part of the video that changes what the favour actually delivers.

“Red” and “wet” change the instruction, so this is worth correcting before calling the tutorial finished. Tell the group you found a caption error and need a little more time. That gives a concrete reason for the delay without making the friend feel she caused it.

YouTube warns that automatic captions can misrepresent speech and tells creators to review and edit them. The two errors give you a reason to check the full four minutes, not just the phrase your friend spotted. [YouTube's caption guidance](https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6373554?hl=en).
