My friend put my voice in a gaming highlight after agreeing to leave it out

Gaming category photographGaming

The highlight ended with me shouting, "Left door, left door!" and then laughing so hard I couldn't finish the call. It was a great round. I wish my friend had sent it to our group instead of posting it on his public channel.

Before we played, I said he could record the game but not include my voice in anything public. He agreed. When I asked him to remove the highlight, he said he hadn't used my name and that my panicked call was the best part. He'd spent two hours editing it. I don't want my voice there, and I don't need to invent a dramatic reason to explain that.

He has agreed to take this one down. Now he's asking me to stay in voice chat for the next session and trust him to edit me out. I believe he meant it when he first agreed too. That's the difficult part: the agreement disappeared when it made his video less entertaining.

I can play without speaking, but that changes our team's coordination and leaves me typing while the others joke. How do I keep the friendship and the game while making this preference something he actually plans for, rather than a correction after the next upload?

Ask for a session where he doesn't record the shared voice chat, if that is something he can arrange. The preference needs a plan before play begins. 'I'll fix it in the edit' is the exact stage where he already chose the entertaining call over the agreement.

Two hours of editing explains why removing the clip hurts. It doesn't explain why your earlier answer stopped counting. You can appreciate the work and still say the public version needs to exclude your voice. No name attached was an option he proposed afterward, not the permission you gave beforehand.

Is every session now material for his channel, or are there still evenings just for playing? A regular unrecorded night could preserve the thing you miss without making you supervise his editing. If he only wants sessions that produce content, the disagreement reaches beyond this one highlight.
