My brother wants captions off for our game night, but I need them to follow it
Gaming"Just for the cutscenes," my brother said, reaching for the God of War Ragnarök settings. He wanted the captions off because the text distracted him from the animation. I wanted them on because I couldn't reliably hear what the characters were saying.
We're taking turns with the controller on his television. He bought the game, and the Saturday night arrangement was his idea after I said I missed watching stories together. I need the larger text from where I sit. He says he'll repeat any line I miss, but by then the next line has started, and I don't want our evening to become him narrating the narrator.
[PlayStation's accessibility page](https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/god-of-war-ragnarok/accessibility/) distinguishes spoken-dialogue subtitles from non-speech captions and lists text-size and background choices. We haven't tested those combinations together. Last Saturday we only argued over the on/off switch, then finished early.
I could try a less prominent background if the words remain readable. I don't want to keep shrinking them until he likes the picture and I lose the conversation. How do I suggest a shared setup without sounding as if I'm taking over his game and his television?
