Do I bench our best caller after he keeps mocking a new guild member's accent?

Gaming category photographGaming

Our new healer asked, "Can you use my name instead?" after the raid caller copied her accent for the third time. He said it was a joke. Ten minutes later he posted a typed imitation in our Discord channel.

I'm one of two guild officers. I told him in private to stop after the second imitation, so the message wasn't happening before anyone explained the problem. He says benching him for Friday would punish the whole team: he's the person who knows every boss call, and we've been working toward this clear for a month. The other officer wants one final warning and says we should ask the healer whether she can tolerate him for a single night.

She has already asked him to stop. I don't want to make her negotiate for a place she was invited to fill. I also haven't trained a replacement caller, which is now everybody's problem.

[Discord offers a way to report messages that may violate its policies](https://discord.com/safety/360044103651-reporting-abusive-behavior-to-discord); that process wouldn't make our Friday roster decision for us. What would be a fair immediate response when removing him may cost the clear, but keeping him makes our warning look like something only weaker players have to obey?

The healer already answered the tolerance question by asking him to use her name. A Friday bench is a defensible response to continuing after a direct warning. You can tell the roster plainly that the usual caller won't be playing and that the run may be slower, without putting her on trial in the announcement.

Not having a second caller is a leadership problem worth owning. It doesn't make the healer responsible for protecting the month's progress. Even a failed training run could give somebody else practice, whereas another exception keeps all the knowledge with a player who now knows it buys him room to ignore you.

For the Discord message, use the reporting route if it appears to violate platform policy; [Discord also describes ignore and block options](https://discord.com/safety/360044103651-reporting-abusive-behavior-to-discord). Don't organize a mass-report campaign. A platform report and the guild's own roster response serve different purposes, and neither requires posting the healer's private reaction for spectators.
