My brother wants to film me attempting a giant-burger challenge. Can I decline after he booked the table?

Food category photographFood

He sent me the restaurant's challenge board: a huge burger, a timer and a free meal if the diner completed it. "Booked us in. You're doing it; I'll film."

I'd said the photo looked absurd. I hadn't said I wanted to attempt it or appear in a video. Now he says he's arranged the afternoon around the booking and I'll spoil the joke if I order normally.

I'd happily go for a regular burger and spend time with him. I don't want a meal turned into a timed performance, or my appetite treated as something the group can direct. How would you tell him before we leave? I also want to make clear that agreeing to lunch wouldn't be agreeing to be filmed.

The booking is his action; the challenge wasn't your agreement. Tell him now that you'll have an ordinary meal if that is available, but won't enter the challenge. He can decide whether he still wants the outing on that basis.
