I booked dinner too early for a friend who's fasting. How do I fix the timing when another guest needs to leave early?
FoodI'd booked the table for 6:30 when my friend reminded me, "I told you I won't be eating until 7:40 that evening." She was observing a fast and had given me the time in the same message where she accepted the invitation. I'd read the acceptance and missed the rest.
Another friend has an early shift and wants to leave by eight. Moving the whole booking later would make the evening very short for her. Keeping it as it is would mean the fasting friend sits through most of dinner before ordering her own.
Neither has asked the other to change. I created the conflict by booking before checking everyone's information. Would you look for a later, shorter dinner, meet for conversation first and eat at different times, or arrange two smaller catch-ups? I want to offer a genuine plan rather than ask the fasting friend to spend the evening explaining herself.
