Is it strange to want a quiet morning alone before our wedding?

Weddings category photographWeddings

"You'll be lonely getting ready by yourself," my sister said. She has planned matching robes, breakfast deliveries and photographs of six of us in the hotel room.

I had pictured sleeping, eating something ordinary and getting dressed with one friend. I like my sister and the others. I just don't want the first four hours of the day to feel like another event I have to host.

Nobody has paid for the robes yet. My sister thinks the group morning is part of what it means to be in the wedding party. I hadn't realised she was organising it, and I kept saying the ideas sounded nice instead of saying what I wanted.

Can I have a quieter morning and still include them meaningfully? I don't want to create a packed list of little visits just to prove I'm happy they are there.

Tell her before the robes are ordered. You can appreciate the care in her plan and still say you want a quiet morning with one friend. Delaying because the ideas sound nice is making the plan look more agreed than it is.

Who is the one friend, and does your sister know why you chose that arrangement? You don't owe everybody a detailed ranking, but telling her gently may be kinder than having her discover the smaller group through photographs.
