How should I handle a practice file that might contain questions from our upcoming exam?

Education category photographEducation

"Don't send this outside the group," a classmate wrote above a PDF called Practice 3. It has worked answers and a page headed with next week's exam date.

Our revision group has shared old exercises all term. I opened this one thinking it was another set. One question matches an example the lecturer used in class; that alone doesn't tell me whether the file is an exam, a practice version or someone's reconstruction. The classmate says a friend passed it on and won't say where it came from.

I stopped reading after the first page. I haven't forwarded it, but I have seen one question and its answer. I want to ask the lecturer what the file is without claiming there has definitely been a leak or making an accusation I can't support. What should I say, including the part about what I've already seen?

Say what you know: the filename, the dated heading, how it reached you and how far you read. The source is unclear, so keep 'might be an exam file' separate from 'is an exam file.' The lecturer can investigate the document's status.
