How do I tell my neighbours I can't be the only person clearing the shared winter path?
Neighbours“You'll do the path again this winter, won't you?” my neighbour asked when I brought my shovel out of the shed.
Last winter I cleared the short path linking four front doors to the pavement. I was working from home and could do it early. This year I start work across town at seven. When snow comes, I won't be there to recreate the morning routine everyone remembers.
One household has offered to buy grit. Another says they can't shovel. The neighbour who asked thinks it will be simplest if I do it after work, but that doesn't help people using the path during the day.
I've shared the [Met Office's snow-code advice](https://weather.metoffice.gov.uk/warnings-and-advice/seasonal-advice/your-home/clearing-paths-and-driveways), including avoiding water that can refreeze and taking care not to obstruct paths or drains with moved snow. I am not claiming any legal responsibility has been settled by our chat.
How do I turn last year's favour into a realistic plan for this year? I am willing to do a share when I'm home; I can't agree to a daily morning job and hope the weather waits for my commute.
