AITA for taking a handmade costume back after the school replaced my daughter in the lead?
AITAI sewed an elaborate costume after my daughter was cast as the lead in a school play. A week before opening, she became ill and the understudy took over. The director asked to use the costume because it fit both children.
I collected it from the costume room and refused. I had paid for the fabric and did not want another child photographed in something made for my daughter’s milestone.
The understudy performed in a rushed substitute that tore during the final scene. My daughter watched from home and felt guilty.
I owned the costume. I also used ownership to ensure the production could not smoothly continue without the role she lost.
