AITA for leaving a group hike with the slowest walker before everyone reached the summit?
AITAFive friends attempted a mountain hike. Nina was much slower than expected, and clouds were building. At the final junction, I offered to walk her back while the others continued.
Nina insisted she could finish. I told the group we were descending and left with her before they agreed. She cried most of the way down, saying I had appointed myself the judge of her ability.
The others reached the summit safely but returned after dark. They say my safety concern was valid, yet I split the group and took the first-aid kit in my backpack.
I prevented one risk by making two new ones. I was the most experienced hiker, which made my decision informed, not automatically mine alone.
