Who gets to change the pickup time on a shared festival minibus?
TravelThe band Leo most wants to see is now listed after the group's agreed pickup. He turns the festival programme around. “We can move the minibus. Nobody minds an hour.”
Two of the six friends do mind. They have planned their evening around leaving at eleven and would rather keep the arrangement. Another friend wants to stay with Leo; the remaining two are undecided.
In their timing and cost example, the return vehicle is £180 split six ways. An enquiry about a later collection produces a possible £45 extra charge, but the driver has not accepted a new time. Leo says they should vote and split any increase equally. The others say a majority should not automatically extend everybody's night and bill.
How would you handle this while there is still an afternoon to make arrangements? Leo is disappointed about missing the set, but a vehicle booked for six is making one person's choice everybody's problem.
