Should I simplify my smart-light setup so guests can use it without me?
TechnologyMy sister asked for enough light to read the recipe. I told her to choose “Golden Hour” on the tablet. She looked at the seven scene names and said, “Which one is just the lights?”
I spent a weekend arranging these living-room lamps, and I love how the room looks in the evening. But the controls now make sense mainly to me. The tablet was charging behind the sofa, and I ended up changing the lights from my phone.
My sister was visiting for one afternoon, so redesigning everything for her feels excessive. Yet I do not want anyone staying here to ask permission to brighten the table.
Would you add an obvious everyday control and keep the scenes, or strip the setup back? I had intended the technology to make the room feel welcoming. It has acquired a small entrance exam.
