Our football team chose fitted shirts, but I want a looser cut. Is matching kit a good enough reason to refuse?
SportsI held the sample shirt away from my body and said, "Can I order the straight-cut version?" The kit coordinator replied that we would look like two different teams in the photographs.
We're choosing shirts for an adult women's football side. The supplier has offered a fitted and a straight cut in the same colour, with the same numbers and badge. Most players prefer the fitted one. I like how it looks on them; I don't like how it feels on me.
The coordinator has collected sizes but hasn't placed the order. A different cut would add a little work, and she's already spent evenings organising samples. She says allowing it now will mean everybody asking for a special version. So far I'm the only person who's asked.
Should I press for this option, offer to handle my own shirt if it meets the team's requirements, or accept the common cut because uniformity is part of joining a team? I want to be comfortable playing without asking anyone else to change what they chose.
