My lab portal has two red flags and no explanation. What should I ask the clinic?

Health category photographHealth

"If it mattered, they would have called," Mum said. My brother sent a screenshot from a symptom website before I had finished reading the report.

Blood tests ordered for ongoing tiredness appeared in the portal this morning. Two lines have red flags. There is no clinician comment, and the appointment booked to discuss the tests is five days away. I do not know whether anyone has reviewed the results yet. I have not developed new symptoms since the visit.

I have opened the report eleven times. Mum wants me to close the app; my brother wants every number so he can investigate.

[MedlinePlus explains that a result outside a reference range may or may not indicate a health problem and needs the rest of the clinical picture](https://medlineplus.gov/lab-tests/how-to-understand-your-lab-results/). That is helpful context, but it cannot tell me whether these particular results can wait.

I plan to contact the team that ordered the tests and ask whether they have been reviewed and whether the booked timing is appropriate. What else belongs in that message? I would like a useful answer without sending a page of diagnoses assembled by my brother.

Include when the blood was taken, the date of the booked review, the reason the tests were ordered, and that you have seen flags without an explanation. Then ask: "Does a clinician need to review or speak with me sooner?" The clinic can tell you how to provide the report securely if needed.

Your mother's reassurance and your brother's alarm both outrun what is known. No clinician comment has appeared; that does not establish either that the results are harmless or that nobody has seen them. Asking the ordering team about review status is more useful than choosing between those family predictions.
