My cousin wants my Steam password to try a game. How do I refuse without making it about trust?

Gaming category photographGaming

"I'll only use it tonight," my cousin said when I declined to send my Steam login. He wants to try a game I own before buying it, and we live in different homes.

He offered to let me stay in the call while he signed in. I believe he intends to do exactly what he says. But I don't want my account, saved access and purchases on somebody else's computer. [Steam's account-security guidance says not to share login information, including with other users](https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/6639-EB3C-EC79-FF60). That is a rule I can follow without deciding he's dishonest.

He asked, "So you think I'd steal from you?" I said no, then started listing reasons until each one became a new thing he promised to avoid.

What would you say next? I could show him the game while he visits or look for a legitimate demo if one exists. I don't want to turn the refusal into an accusation, and I don't want to send the password just to prove the accusation is false.

"I believe you, and I don't share my account login" is enough to answer the trust question. [Steam recommends against sharing that information](https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/6639-EB3C-EC79-FF60). You don't need a forecast about what your cousin might do in order to keep the password private.
