I keep saying the expensive group outing is fine when I'd rather do something cheaper
ConfessionsThe tickets were forty-eight dollars each. I typed 'Perfect!' before I had even decided whether I wanted to spend that on one evening.
My friends earn different amounts, and I don't know everyone's budget. Nobody has mocked a cheaper suggestion. I just don't want to become the person whose finances everyone discusses, so I enthusiastically agree to plans and then resent the group for making them.
Last time I skipped dessert afterwards and said I wasn't hungry. This time the organiser asked whether the ticket price suited everyone. I had a clean opportunity to answer and did the opposite.
Can I change my answer now without explaining my income or making them cancel an event some of them are excited about? I'm trying to admit that 'fine' hasn't meant fine, while letting them keep a plan I may choose not to join.
