Do I need to get every achievement in a game my friend gave me?

Gaming category photographGaming

I sent my friend a screenshot of the end credits. He replied with a picture of the achievement list: "Still thirty-four to go!"

He gave me the game for my birthday because he loved it. I loved most of the story too. I played twenty-five hours, talked with him about the ending, and thought that was a good use of the gift. The missing achievements mostly involve replaying sections or finding things I passed.

He's offered to guide me through all of them on voice chat. That could be another evening together, but I don't want the next four weekends to become collecting things just to show sufficient gratitude. I also haven't told him that his checklist took the shine off finishing.

How do I say I'm done with the game while making clear the gift landed? He's proud of his own complete list; I want to celebrate that without borrowing it as my assignment.

Twenty-five hours and a conversation about the ending already show that the gift reached you. A completion percentage measures the game's checklist, not how grateful you are. Tell him which part you loved before saying you don't want to chase the remaining achievements.
