My co-op partner looked up the puzzle. Can we keep playing without spoiling each other?

Gaming category photographGaming

I was trying the last arrangement of the three mirrors when my friend said, "Turn the middle one twice." The door opened. Then I saw the walkthrough on his phone. We'd agreed to try this puzzle campaign without looking up answers.

He said we'd been in that room for twenty-five minutes and he had work early. To him, opening the door rescued the end of our evening. To me, the door was the end of the thing I wanted to work out. I snapped, "Why don't you just watch the whole game?" That was unfair; he'd spent most of the session testing ideas with me.

We only have one evening a week together. If every hard room waits until next Wednesday, I can imagine him losing interest. But if he knows the solution while I keep experimenting, I start reading his silence as a hint. Even asking whether I'm close gives something away.

We paused at the next checkpoint. He's offered to let me decide when hints are allowed, which sounds generous but could leave him waiting for permission all night. What agreement would let us both enjoy this: a time limit, a shared hint ladder, or accepting that this particular game isn't a good fit for our evenings?

Agree on the first hint before either phone comes out. For example, after twenty minutes you both decide whether to stop, keep trying, or read one small hint together. The important part is sharing that decision while neither player has secret knowledge. Once he has read the answer, he can't unread it for you.
