A developer says the bug in my negative review is fixed. Should I change the review before testing again?

Gaming category photographGaming

My review says, "The door puzzle broke twice, so I couldn't finish." The developer replied yesterday that a patch fixes that exact problem and asked whether I would reconsider the recommendation.

I want the review to be fair. I don't want to claim the current version is broken if it isn't. I also haven't played the patch, and my next free evening is several days away. The developer's reply tells me what they intended to fix; it doesn't tell me what will happen on my computer.

A friend says I should remove the negative review now because it's hurting a small project. I don't know what effect my two sentences have had, and I don't want that guess to decide what I say happened.

Would you add a dated note that a fix has been announced, then retest when you can? Or leave the original review alone until there is a new result to report? I'm happy to correct it; I don't want to substitute goodwill for a test I haven't done.

A dated note can distinguish your original experience from the announced patch without claiming either that the fix works or that it fails. If the review page lets you edit, "Developer reports a fix; I haven't retested yet" is honest information a reader can use.
