After moving overseas, I can join my old League group but the delay makes playing miserable
Gaming"At least you're still in the call," my old flatmate said after I missed another move. I was glad to hear him. I was also staring at roughly 230 ms of ping while he described his connection as about 30.
I moved overseas and kept joining their League of Legends evenings on the same server. I don't expect the whole group to rebuild its routine around me. But the game feels delayed from here, and every bad moment makes me wonder whether I'm spoiling the session or just paying for company with a frustrating match.
[Riot's connection guide defines ping as round-trip time to its servers and explains that distance can be a major contributor on an otherwise working connection](https://support.riotgames.com/en-us/league-of-legends/connectivity/basic-connections-troubleshooting-guide). I still need to check other causes; I don't want to buy a supposed shortcut based on a promise.
What would you suggest for keeping these friendships active if this particular game no longer works well for our locations? I miss playing together, not merely staying connected to a call while wishing the match would end.
