The mole I booked for cosmetic removal has changed. What do I tell the clinic?

Health category photographHealth

I booked a private appointment to remove a mole that catches on a clothing strap. This week I noticed that it looks different from an older photograph.

My sister said, "You're getting it removed anyway. Why pay for another appointment?" I have not yet had a clinician assess the change. The receptionist who booked the cosmetic slot asked where it was and quoted a price, but we did not discuss whether it had changed.

[NHS advice is to see a GP about a mole that changes size, shape or colour](https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/moles/). I am contacting my GP and telling the private clinic what I have noticed before any removal proceeds.

What should I ask the clinic about the appointment it has actually booked? I do not know who will assess the mole, whether this is the right service for that assessment, or what happens to the deposit if the plan changes. I want those questions answered without pretending I know what the change means.

Tell the clinic that the reason for the appointment has changed from an irritating mole to one with a newly noticed change. Ask who would assess it and whether the booked service is appropriate. Let the medical assessment guide the next step rather than the original price.
