Should we buy a museum pass before agreeing which Paris visits we actually want?
TravelNell has fitted eight museums and monuments into two days. Her father circles the Louvre and says he would rather spend a long afternoon there than collect eight entrances.
“But then the pass won't pay for itself,” she says.
They have not bought it. Nell's calculation uses the individual admissions for every place in her spreadsheet, including several her father has never said he wants to visit. He has paid for their train journey and she wants her planning to make the rest affordable.
There is another unresolved detail: no Louvre visit time has been booked. The [official Paris Museum Pass page](https://www.parismuseumpass.fr/en/musees/musee-du-louvre) warns that a pass alone does not guarantee Louvre access when time slots are exhausted. The [Louvre explains how pass holders can book a free slot](https://contact.louvre.fr/hc/en-gb/articles/12191684981789-What-kind-of-tickets-services-can-I-book-online).
Would you choose the visits first and price the pass afterwards? Nell's father wants to appreciate her effort without spending their trip completing a spreadsheet he never agreed to.
