Should I ask about a possible marking error when the gradebook gives me a higher score than the rubric?

Education category photographEducation

The rubric adds up to 68. The gradebook says 78, and the tutor has asked whether I can attend the high-mark awards photo.

I checked the rows twice. There might be a moderation adjustment I haven't seen; there might also be a typing mistake. My family has already celebrated the 78. A friend says I should wait and let the college notice if anything is wrong.

What should I ask before accepting the photo invitation? I don't want to announce that the tutor made an error when I don't know that. I also don't want to stay silent because I prefer one of the two numbers.

Ask the tutor to reconcile the rubric total with the gradebook score. 'I get 68 from these rows, while the portal shows 78; is there an adjustment I should know about?' states the discrepancy without asserting an error.

Check that you are looking at the final rubric rather than an earlier version. If that is unclear, include the document you used. You don't need to solve the grading system before asking the person responsible for the mark.
