How do I spend a free evening watching something instead of endlessly choosing it?

Entertainment category photographEntertainment

At 8:10 I made tea and opened the television menu. At 9:25 the tea was cold and I'd watched six trailers, half a recap and no film.

This was an evening I had to myself. I wanted something absorbing, but kept rejecting choices because there might be one that suited the night better. By the time I chose a two-hour drama, I no longer wanted to stay up for it. I replayed a familiar comedy scene and went to bed annoyed.

I don't want to turn leisure into another timed assignment. I do want to get past the choosing stage. What would a small, workable limit look like when I'm watching alone and nobody else is there to press play?

Choose the available length before the title. At 8:10 you might have room for a film; at 9:25 you may want one episode. That gives the search an actual constraint instead of asking every trailer whether it could be the best possible use of the evening.
