Do I have to divide my wedding entrance between my dad and stepdad?
WeddingsMum drew a line halfway down the aisle on the venue plan. "Your dad walks you to here, then your stepdad takes over." She sounded relieved to have solved it.
Dad stayed involved after my parents separated. My stepdad has also been a big part of my life since I was thirteen. I'm close to both. Dad asked whether the handover meant he wasn't walking me all the way; my stepdad said he'd be happy sitting with Mum.
What I actually pictured was meeting my partner at the entrance and walking in together. I hadn't said so because everybody started discussing who would accompany me before we'd even chosen the music.
I want both men to feel loved. I don't know whether dividing the walk would achieve that, or leave each watching for the little mark where his part ends.
