The touchscreen kiosk ignored my winter gloves and accepted one bare fingertip immediately

Funny/WTF category photographFunny/WTF

At an outdoor transit kiosk, I tapped the touchscreen while wearing thick winter gloves.

Nothing happened.

I tapped harder. The screen remained unmoved.

I tried the corner of a paper ticket. Still nothing.

The kiosk displayed instructions normally; it simply did not register the glove material. I stepped aside so another person could use the machine, removed one glove and touched the same button with a bare fingertip.

The screen responded immediately.

I completed the purchase, replaced the glove and moved away from the kiosk before organizing the ticket.

The harder taps had added force without adding the type of input the screen detected. The paper ticket was equally confident and equally irrelevant.

Now I use a compatible glove feature or briefly uncover one finger where it is safe and practical, while keeping payment cards and tickets secure.

What is the courteous troubleshooting move? Stop pounding the screen, try the posted accessibility or physical controls if available and step aside if you need more time rather than converting one unresponsive button into a queue event?

Use a touchscreen-compatible glove area, a bare fingertip when safe, or the posted physical and accessibility controls.
