The rubber doorstop stuck to my shoe and the door slowly followed me closed

Funny/WTF category photographFunny/WTF

I used a small rubber wedge to hold an office door open while carrying boxes.

On the final trip, I stepped near the wedge and walked into the hallway.

The door began closing behind me.

The wedge was attached to the sole of my shoe. Its rubber surface had gripped the tread and traveled two steps away from the only task it had.

I stopped, removed it by hand and returned to the doorway. After confirming the area was clear and that propping the door was permitted, I placed the wedge fully beneath the door where feet would not cross it.

When the boxes were moved, I removed the wedge and allowed the door to close normally.

The first placement had left half the wedge exposed in the walking path. It held the door and volunteered for footwear.

A doorstop should stabilize a door without becoming a trip hazard or defeating a door that must remain closed for safety or security.

What is the appropriate setup? Confirm the door may be held open, position the wedge outside the walking line, remove it when the task ends and never prop a fire, security or access-controlled door contrary to posted rules?
