AITA for ending our weekly family video call after relatives kept touring my apartment?

AITA category photographAITA

Every Sunday, twelve relatives join a family video call. My grandfather rarely speaks, but he waits for it all week.

Since I moved, the call has become an inspection of my apartment. An aunt asks me to turn the camera toward the kitchen. My cousin comments on unopened boxes. Last week my mother asked everyone whether my couch looked too large for the room.

I have said several times that I do not want to give tours. They laugh and say they are interested because they cannot visit.

On Sunday my uncle asked to see the bedroom closet. I said no. He called me secretive, and three people began joking about what I was hiding.

I ended the call for everyone. Because I created the recurring meeting, that closed the room.

My grandfather tried to reconnect twice. My cousin eventually created a new link, but he had already gone to bed by the time most people returned.

The family says I could have left alone instead of pulling the plug. I say the call had become entertainment built around ignoring my answer, and leaving quietly would let the joke continue without me.

I canceled the recurring invitation. Someone else can host future calls. My mother says that is administrative revenge and that my grandfather will struggle with a new link.

She is right about him. I wanted the group to feel the interruption they kept causing me. He was the person least responsible and the one who lost the most.

Repeated demands to show private rooms were not harmless after you had said no. Handing hosting to someone else is a reasonable long-term boundary.

Ending the room punished every participant and specifically disrupted your grandfather. Leaving your own call would have protected you without taking the connection from him.
